Philosophy Statement of Teaching
I believe that the profession of teaching is one of the most integral professions to modern society. Without it, society will wither and die. An uneducated society with a few educated elite is nothing more than a feudal society.
Children are the future, and one of the most important things to be concerned about. Not only are they the future, they are our hopes and dreams. As humans, nobody lives forever, but we live on in our children, and they live on in their children.
Schools and classrooms are simply the facilities and tools used to accommodate the learning, although they are not necessary in and of themselves. It is simply the system that we as a culture have chosen as the best method for educating our youth.
Teachers hold a job of utmost importance, but must expect disrespect or low pay for their work. Many people hold low opinions of teachers in general, without realizing how much positive teachers have done for them. It is up to teachers to help shape the opinions of public to the better, and not just for their own sake.
Education is an ever-shifting issue. It is in constant need of revision and improvement and accountability. And yet, education in general has not changed in thousands of years either. It is the fundamental idea of the tabula rasa, of nature versus nature, and our efforts to defy our natural limitations.
